oh jeez

So it's been a little while yet again, but here I am. Posting as promised. (way late though, so does it really count?)

Anyways, this past week we were ALL sick. No fun. Flu. Gross.
So Samantha has been pretty fussy lately off and on, but we all seem to be 100% now. Yay.

I was off work for a whole week, and although that sounds like oh so much fun, it's really not. Being sick kind of takes the fun out of it.

My new goal is to head out to garage sales this summer and also the goodwill store. I want to start finding some good bargains, like my pal Ann Marie. Found here . She is oh so talented!

Life with a wonderful, cranky baby

Last night, Samantha was sooo cranky. She wanted to play, but then again, she didn't. I think she was just sooo tired. We ended up cuddling on the couch. She had her paci and her blanky and I cuddled her and we got through 2 whole books. I love our cuddle time!

blogging

So who ever said I was good at this blogging thing? Never me... never me...

I am horrible at remembering to log on here, and update everyone with Samantha's latest accomplishments. I wish I was. I set myself reminders, I leave the window open on my computer... I just always forget to actually get on here and update.

Anyways, Samantha is 1. A whole year old. She has been a mini-toddler for a little over a week. And she is doing great.

Her birthday was a huge success. We woke up and I made her some scrambled eggs with cheese for breakfast. She loved it. We had pictures scheduled for the afternoon, so we got her ready for pictures. Went to Pennys. Got some of the cutest pictures, even though she was a complete whiney child. She was so not having it. Anyways, we walked around the mall a bit, and had lunch. Then we went over to my parents house for dinner. Mom made mac and cheese for Samantha and burgers for everyone else. Samantha ate more than I even realized she would. She loved it. My sister made cupcakes, and Samantha got an entire cupcake all to herself. Again, she loved it. We opened some presents from my parents and my sister. Some cute clothes and one of the coolest toys.

We then headed home, where Dustins family all got together and had another mini birthday celebration. We opened some more presents and hung out. Put Samantha to bed after a very successful day.

Friday, she had her dr. visit. Shots. ick. But she handeled them well. She cried for a few seconds, but got over it pretty quickly. She got her shots in her arms this time because she is a "big girl". She was 31 inches and 23 pounds, 12 ounces. She also had another ear infection. Oh fun. But she was a good girl and was the perfect child for the rest of the day.

Saturday was her birthday party. We woke up, got her all ready to go and went to pick up her cake and balloons. Got some last minute stuff together and then headed up the the rec center around 1:45. Party started at 2:30. People showed up. We had a good time. She really enjoyed her cake and she got lots of neat presents. Cute clothes and some cool toys that she really enjoys.

Easter was a good day for the most part. She spent the night at grandma and papas house on Saturday. We picked her up around noon and went home to find out what the Easter Bunny left for her. We found her easter basket hidden on the floor by all her toys. The Easter Bunny was pretty generous. He brought her some new shoes and some socks and a stuffed duck. Some peeps and a couple books. She had a lot of fun looking at everything.

Thats about it for the updates. Sorry it took so long.

getting closer

As we are nearing the 1 year mark, I am slowly letting it sink in that my baby is not really a "baby" anymore. True, she will always be MY baby, but technically, she is hitting the "toddler" years. And it's so hard to imagine her being so independant. She sat in her high chair last night and ate a banana. All by herself. I handed it to her, and she knew just what to do. She doesn't really need me to feed her anymore.

She does not like a sippy cup. She doesn't seem to want to drink from them. Just chews on them. Well, I tried putting her formula in a sippy last night, figuring maybe she would drink it... nope. She just chewed on it and kept throwing it across her high chair tray. I finally gave in and put it in a bottle. I don't know how I'm supposed to get her used to a sippy cup. I have tried all different kinds, and all she does is chew on them. hmm... oh well. She may very well be on a bottle after our goal, which is her first birthday, but hopefully by 1 1/2 they will be completely gone.

Birthday party planning!

Birthday party planning is in full swing! I have picked up all sorts of goodies, and I'm getting excited for my baby to be ONE! It amazes me how quickly this past year has gone... how many different milestones Samantha has reached, and yet... still how many more she has yet to still reach.

We are doing a winnie the pooh themed party, and I'm really happy with what we have so far...
So far, we have:

11 months...

Time has flown by. Samantha has been keeping us pretty busy... she's almost a year old. Party planning is in full swing. She is getting so big and doing all kinds of new stuff. She pulls herself up on everything... tries to stand all the time. She can stand for a few seconds at a time by herself, but then she realizes it, and falls down or grabs on to something. She is talking much more, saying things like "mama, dada, lyla, tickle, kitty" and more. She is sooo smart! She is eating more of "regular" foods now and really enjoys it. Last night, she had half a banana, mashed potatoes and squash for dinner. Then some applesauce, cheese and a bottle for a snack. She also can eat animal crackers. She loves those!

It's been a while

A new update is coming soon. Very soon. I promise.
