Samantha’s Room Is Finished!

Well.. almost.

So here are some pictures and I’ll show you what I’ve done!

I finally finished this. It will be hung above her dresser soon, but for now it’s hanging OVER an Elmo picture. Oh well. At least it’s DONE!

Dustin made this shelf (when the room is re-arranged it will be above the dresser)

And then this is the rest of the room! Enjoy!

her closet is still pretty messy. But it’s much better than before!

I added in a bookshelf for her books…

This cute blue netting scared her i think, so we took it down before bed last night.

And this is where we hung up her hair clip holder and also a picture that used to be where the new shelf is. We will find permanent homes for these things soon!

I hope you enjoyed seeing a tour of Samanthas room!

Something is LIVING in there...

Yes, something is living in there.

Where, you ask?
My daughters room.

Something is in there. It's gotta be. We put her to bed and she wakes up with bites all over her. We have taken all her bedding off, washed everything, vaccuumed like a hundred times, and pulled the bed out... we can't figure out where it's coming from or even what IT is. Mosquitos? Spiders? *shudder* I feel like she is not being protected, even in her own room.

Daddy counted her bites today. And you will be shocked.

3 on her face
4 on one arm
1 on the other arm
1 on her belly
1 on her leg

Seriously? Thats 10 bites!!! On her little body! I feel so bad because they swell up and get all red.

So help!? What is a KID SAFE way to make sure nothing is LIVING in her room!?

Project Number 2

This is a "half way done project". I say that because even though I did everything I wanted to do, and even more so far, it still doesn't look quite right. These projects were meant to be fun, EASY ways to make Samanthas room look more "Samantha". Anyways, this is what I started out with:
Photobucket
and then opened:
Photobucket
Hmm... that fabric is looking pretty foldy and creasey. So we took out the iron:
Photobucket
Better.

We then put the fabric over the front of the board
Photobucket
and used a stapler to staple the sides:

Be careful to make the corners look good!

Sometimes it took 2 of us. Thank you dad for helping!
Photobucket
Trimmed the excess fabric from the back:

And I got 2 matching boards that look pretty good:

The plan was to use ribbon on the front, but it didn't work exactly as planned and I ended up using very thin rope-like elastic:

And the "semi-finished product"

My mom found some buttons and pretty stuff that we are going to try decorating with:

So I shall let you know how that goes. But for now, it will work for what I have in mind, which YOU will find out as soon as I get the chance to work on her room!

Project Number 1

I totally stole this idea from Ann Marie. Completely. 1000000%. So she gets ALLLL the credit here.

I am trying to re-organize and clean up my daughters room. I wanted something to hang on her walls that was cute, and she LOVES Elmo. So I bought this book from the dollar store.

I also bought these photo mats.

Then I carefully tore the pages out of the book (don't worry, it was CRAP anyways. Falling apart and the binding was completely ruined) that I wanted to use (and I did read it to Samantha BEFORE I ruined it), and set them aside.

project

Then I put double sided tape on the back of the mats around the edges and taped the page to the mats.

Here is the finished product. :-)

I'm pretty happy with them!

The "Before"

This is the project of Samantha's room.

Here are the "before" pictures:
This is her closet. We will start there. It is a HUGE disorganized mess:

and the other side:

And this is her dresser... the stuff on top ALL needs to go to storage, so that will go away soon, but it has looked like this for the past 2 months or so?

Here is the wall with her rocking chair:

And her bed:

And the corner:

We have this nifty little thing too, but I need to think of more creative use for it:

And then this is the last wall:

And last, but not least, her ceiling:

I am hoping to really make some progress with her room and make it more fun for her! Wish me luck!!!

Time for spring cleaning!

Yes, SPRING cleaning... it's NOT summer yet! I still have 2 weeks and 2 days to call it Spring cleaning.

Watch for some interesting posts in the next few weeks, because Samanthas room and mine, are going under some HUGE organization changes! I will have some before and after pictures, and some really interesting posts (hopefully) full of some creative ways to keep things organized. I am not nearly as talented as Ann Marie , but I'm trying. haha
